The Priestís Breastplate by Pastor Jack Phillips
The studies I've been doing recently have been, more or less, on the first level; that is, a level of understanding that most new and or not so knowledgeable Christians can understand without much difficulty -- but challenging at the same time. I've done this because we have some 60 or more subscribers now and I do not know their level of knowledge because I hear from so few with comments or questions. This series of studies, however, is primarily for our third level subscribers -- yet, hopefully, so carefully constructed and documented that even first level subscribers will be challenged to go a little deeper into our Father's Word. So, I trust that our first level subscribers will apply some serious study on this series. Its complete importance will not be seen until a little further into the study, but the foundation is designed to kind of walk the first level group into how to dig out hidden truths contained within obvious truths just laying on the surface of God's Word. I read an article recently which triggered me into doing some additional research and study on the Priest's Breastplate because the stones are seen to be in the foundations of the wall around New Jerusalem; and to me at least, this is not coincidental at all, (Rev. 21:19,20). What is the purpose of a wall? See how things are uncovered? Is there going to be a literal wall around New Jerusalem? I see no purpose for a wall there, do you? Therefore, I feel it necessary to share with the group my findings and conclusions. To those who do not understand the significance of the stones, wall, 144 cubits, etc., this study may seem somewhat confusing, however, before I'm through, I think the reason why we need to understand what the Breastplate symbolizes will become quite clear and its importance appreciated. So, please bear with me as I endeavor to put together these installments relating to the Priest's Breastplate.
Study Pt. 1
First, note that in Revelation 21, the stones garnished (beautified) the 12 foundations of the wall of New Jerusalem. Foundations? Hum! This word in and of itself should flick on a light in our grey matter. What does a foundation represent? The beginning of a building, of course. Paul touched on this subject in 1 Cor. 3:11:
1 Cor. 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now, since Messiah was and is a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, the connection to New Jerusalem becomes quite interesting. So, since Christ is the foundation of our faith, based on God's Word, making the foundation take on a plural sense (symbolized in Rev. 21), let us get into the meat of what all this means to us as Christians today.
Let us first compare Rev. 21 with Exodus 28:
Colors in Rev. 21: jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolyte, beryl, topaz, chrysoprasus, jacinth, amethyst.
Colors in Exod. 28: Sardius, topaz, carbuncle: this shall be the first row. Emerald, sapphire, diamond: second row. Ligure, agate, amethyst: third row. Beryl, onyx, jasper: fourth row.
The Breastplate stones were set in 4 rows; 3 stones in each row. The difference in names of colors is because of language differences.
Exodus 28:21: "And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes."
My point in quoting this verse is to show just how important the Israelite heritage is to prophecy and God's Plan.
Since these stones garnish the wall, and we see that each stone represents an Israelite tribe, we must reference back to verse 17 of Rev. 21.
Rev. 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel."
In order to connect the significance I personally see in this verse, we must reference back to Rev. 7:2-4:
Rev. 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
We came here to show a connection between the 144,000 in Rev. 7 with the 144 cubits in Rev. 21. Both numbers, I believe, are symbolic -- not literal. This being the case, we now see that those sealed in this earth age in Rev. 7 (which is now coming to a close) are an election which will make up the priesthood of the Millennium; and from that 144,000, a special election (much smaller, Matt. 24:22) will be the ones serving in New Jerusalem. Also significant is the statement: "...hurt not the earth, the sea nor the trees, ***till***..." this sealing is completed. Please note again that I do not believe the 144,000 is a firm (literal) number but is only representative of a complete course of calling out a certain number of souls, the number known only to our Father. The same applies to the 144 cubits in Rev. 21. We must not forget that literal things as we see them today, are only figurative of that which is to come because that's the only medium of comprehension we can understand. Those who do not see this symbolic connection; just remember it's my conclusion.
In essence, all these connections simply represent no more than restored Israel to her rightful position first given her in Exodus19:1-6; and re-commissioned in 1 Peter 2:1-10; to fulfill Isaiah 54. There are many additional particulars involved in these comparatives; however, I will not address them here because it would detract from the point of this study. I'm only bringing these items to your attention to document that from Genesis to Revelation, God has not forsaken His promises to Israel, and that she figures into everything that our Father has, is and will be doing to salvage the souls lost in satan's rebellion recorded in Rev. 12. The entire Bible revolves around these people -- and Rev. 21 confirms it. This is a key chapter in Revelation and should be carefully studied using the structure and makeup of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Now that we've established the significance of the Breastplate as it pertains to Christ (Yahshua, Israel's Messiah), our High Priest, and Israel's place in prophecy, let us get back to the meat of its meaning.
Most of us have learned that a fake messiah is coming before Jesus returns -- trying to pass himself off as Israel's Messiah, and Christianity's Christ (which millions believe to be some sort of "rapture") -- claiming to "confirm" [keep, not make] a covenant of peace, which is found in Daniel 9:27. "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week..." -- a promised agreement which will be broken after the first half of the agreement is fulfilled. This is Daniel's 70th week -- the tribulation -- and is given to us in Rev. 13 and 11. The acts of the two witnesses (Rev. 11) will blow satan's cover, revealing him as the fake messiah, then will begin the final events of Daniel 9:27 as it relates to Rev. 13:11-18. Our Father made a covenant of peace with Israel via Messiah to be completed in two stages (which Israel did not understand); so, let's look at it:
First stage Micah 5:2, 3:
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 3 Therefore will he give them up, **until the time** that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the **remnant** of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
This has been fulfilled at Messiah's first advent referenced in Matt. 2:5, 6.
Now, the second stage involves the false messiah (the antichrist, satan -- a fake priest) who will attempt to "confirm" the following covenant:
Micah 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God;
Paul tells us in 2 Thess. 2 that satan (the assyrian Micah mentions), will sit in a temple calling himself God, blaspheming our Father, claiming to be the real Messiah -- and fake the fulfilling of this verse of Scripture. Let's continue:
"and they (God's people) shall abide (remain steadfast): for now shall he (the true Messiah) be great unto the ends of the earth. 5 And this man (the true Messiah) shall be the peace..."
Now, once satan has had his short reign over the earth -- faking the peace that is promised -- we can read again from verse 4 through 15, looking at the Assyrian as a type of the antichrist, and see exactly what will take place.
In our next installment, we'll be looking at the stones in the Breastplate; and from that vantage point, we will learn how to take the wraps off Satan's fake priesthood simply by knowing the deeper truths in God's Word.
Study Pt. 2
In the first installment, I demonstrated how certain things pertaining to Israel were very much interrelated. This truth has been missed and misplaced for so many hundreds of years that few see why Israel is so connected with prophecy. I agree that Christianity, as a "religion", is the only message of salvation; however, prophetically, we must revive the Israelite message to truly understand much of OT prophecy that links to us today. In this installment, we'll see exactly how the Priest's Breastplate is used to identify satan's fake priesthood. Understanding the Melchizedek Priesthood that Jesus has rightfully assumed, which was reserved for Him from the beginning (Heb. 7:3), will bring into focus the reason why satan will be able to pass himself off as Israel's Messiah and Christianity's Christ. People simply don't know the difference nor do they have the proper training to recognize the difference. It is all wrapped up in the Priest's Breastplate which so few scholars have even thought about because, to them, it is no longer of importance, nor do they see its significance to our times. However, we've already seen in Rev. 21 that that certainly is not the case at all. So, let's get started. Before we begin today, think on the following facts very carefully: The wall I pointed to (refer to last study) symbolizes something to be protected. As it relates to the Church, the Priesthood is the wall of protection that makes sure there is no invasion that will contaminate God's Word. We today must protect it at all costs; therefore, the Priesthood becomes quite important. Symbolically, then, the Priesthood, along with the help of all genuine truth loving Christians, who are in reality lesser priest s, make up and support the wall protecting the Word from invaders. Let me refer you to some additional foundations; which I believe, are also included in the wall. As pointed out in the last study, Christ (Yahshua) is **THE** overall foundation, however, we must not discount Paul's admonition in Eph. 3:20-22:
Eph. 3:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
This is the Spiritual makeup of New Jerusalem. We are now, individually, being placed in that building as He sees our place to be -- fitly -- meaning perfectly fitted into it. No imperfections there! :-) This little side trip on the wall should be helpful in seeing the symbolism in construction. There's more, but that will be left for another time. Now, on with the breastplate's significance.
Our Father had the breastplate designed for the High Priest to represent Him; His care, His knowledge, His love and His authority. No one, absolutely, no one, ever wore that breastplate except the anointed High Priest. Anyone other than the anointed High Priest, who attempted to stand in the Priest's office, did soon the penalty of death, (See Numbers 16). All preachers/teachers should take heed to this sacred trust; then read Ezekiel 34. Far too many people are in this office without the anointing. A lesson we should never forget, related to the Breastplate, and is found in Ezekiel 28. Many theologians discount entirely the facts we'll learn from these Scriptures, particularly, the fact that the hidden individual it reveals, is none other than satan -- who aspired to be like the Most High (the Melchizedek Priesthood). Listen to our Father's Word.
Isa. 14:12-14: "12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For **thou hast said** in thine heart, **I will** (not Father's will) ascend into heaven, **I will** exalt my throne above the stars of God: **I will** sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 **I will** ascend above the heights of the clouds; **I will** be like the most High (take over His office)."
We see "I will" five times, meaning grace, which satan has also contaminated with falsehoods. So, we now see satan's goal -- to take charge over the Priesthood -- which he will fake when he sits in Jerusalem pretending to fulfill the covenant of peace -- reserved for only the Prince of Peace. This will fulfill Matt. 24:15. Note that Christ draws from Daniel -- so should we.
The verses we'll cover in Ezekiel 28 are directed, on the surface, at an individual called the king of Tyre. One notable point I want everyone to be sure and not miss: The king of Tyre, as an ordinary human ruler, could never have been in the Garden of Eden. If that was the case, he would be somewhere over 3500 years old! Therefore, it becomes obvious that the king of Tyre is used only as a type, and that another individual was the point of this revelation. And, it is a revelation. The king of Tyre was a Canaanite monarch ruling in the north of Israel somewhere around 480 B.C. Because a powerful Canaanite king was used as a type, we must conclude that this prophecy is directed at an individual with power beyond the king of Tyre. The individual in question is said to have been in Eden, the Garden of God. Therefore, what is actually revealed is a power structure that was behind the king of Tyre and the kingdoms of this world -- even today -- run by Lucifer! As Paul so eloquently puts it, this individual; "...the god, ruler, monarch or king, of this world" is none other than satan, (2 Cor. 4:3, 4). He rules "like" the Most High. Blasphemy -- never forgiven in this world or the world to come. Therefore, satan is the "...son of perdition...Ē (John 17).
Ezekiel 28:12: "12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty."
Here is described the power behind the governments and religious systems of this world; and certainly no one would argue against the confusion we see today. Confusion is satan's goal -- to so confuse the world's populace that their discernment could be compared to an airplane pilot with vertigo -- they don't know which is up or which is down. Satan has the wisdom to do so. In other words, he has created a sense of lost direction by his confusing attributes so that even God's Word or Christianity even, is just another facet of "religion" among the numerous religions that now pervade our society -- where even atheism is a religion -- placing Christianity on the same level as all others! Therefore, satan has become a *high priest* of confusion. The Book of Revelation calls this condition Babylon, from the word "Babel". Do not babies babel? Where does the word "baby" come from? Use your grey matter. :-) We see in Rev. 12 that satan is called a dragon with seven heads. Seven, in Biblical numerics, symbolizes Spiritual perfection. Was not satan created perfect? However, the seven heads actually reveal a monstrous creature -- not our One and True Almighty -- one Head. In Rev. 13 we see that the seven heads appear on the beast; the political/religious one world system, now called the "New World Order". The wound to one of the heads then will have a religious connection.
The wisdom satan has and is using constitutes a negative force (which he can make look "good") so powerful that it boggles the mind. His serpentine nature (cunning as it is) allows him to snake and sneak his way among the world's religious and political leaders to the point he now controls them. By controlling these two forces, he therefore, controls the world's people -- except for a remnant Priesthood, of course -- the wall. So, we are forced to conclude that satan is referred to here; not the king of Tyre, because no other entity fits this Scriptural description. This will become quite obvious as we work our way through these Scriptures.
We saw in verse 12 that satan was given perfect beauty and wisdom; attributes which can make evil look good and good look evil. We see this nature in certain politicians and religious leaders today. No better example can be seen than how he used these attributes to deceive Eve into an illicit relationship with him. Now, get ready to plow in deep territory that few dare venture into. Satan wanted to contaminate the seed line through which Christ would come (the man child, Rev. 12); however, that contamination was necessary in order for Christ's Blood to cover all sin; and to defeat satan, (Gen. 3:15). We covered this in our study on "Why The Law". Yes, he was in the Garden of God, snaking his way in conversation until Eve was mesmerized -- she got vertigo! She even called what he offered "good", that it would make one "wise", and was beautiful; "pleasant to the eyes". When ever did an apple offer such titillating charm? Folks, what satan offered Eve was not an apple (let's grow up), it was his own nature instead (the ability to do both good and evil) which we inherited, because he had been given the wisdom of God -- the sum total! Remember? Do we not know how to do both good and evil?
The word "sealest" and "sum", when used together, means a measured out sum to fullness. Therefore, Eve had to have believed she was conversing with God. Therefore, when she stated that Cain had been given to her from the LORD (not Adam, Gen. 4:1), proves that she was beguiled into an illicit relationship with satan because LORD, as used here, means Yahveh, our Father; and "gotten" means to procure -- by extension, procreated. See Strong's No. 7069.
H7069 qânâh kaw-naw' A primitive root; to erect, that is, create; by extension to procure, especially by purchase (causatively sell); by implication to own: - attain, buy (-er), teach to keep cattle, get, provoke to jealousy, possess (-or), purchase, recover, redeem, X surely, X verily.
Therefore, it is easy to see that Cain did not come from Adam by Eve's own admission; and we can rest assured that Cain was not a son of God! Jesus was and is the **only begotten** Son of God, and Cain is a son of satan, (John 8:44, 1 John 3:12). This is made absolutely clear. Paul confirms this fact in 2 Cor. 11:1-15 where satan is seen disguising himself as an angel of light (righteousness, knowledge and wisdom as from God). Beguile means seduce. It's that simple. Beguiled, as used in both Genesis 3:13 and 2 Cor. 11:3, mean wholly seduced = body, soul, spirit. See Strong's No.ís H5377 & G1818. However, that is not our subject; I just wanted to establish that satan was the serpent, and that he could appear as God, or God's priest, even, because he had the necessary wisdom and attributes of God; to fool even Eve; and yes, millions of souls when he hits this earth as he performs his mighty signs and wonders. Let us continue.
Ezekiel 28: 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every **precious stone** ((all 12 -- precious stones in the Priest's Breastplate; but, to whom were they precious?))was thy covering ((his breastplate; signet of authority from God, and His knowledge)," -- but something happened -- take note: "the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created."
In view of these particular stones, as they relate to the Priest's Breastplate, we had better take a closer look. It is herein documented that Satan had access to every stone in the breastplate in the day he was created (Tyrus was not created; he was conceived and born of woman). All these stones are included in the Priest's Breastplate. Every serious Bible student should make a comparison study every place where the precious stones are mentioned. They are quite significant as to their contextual meaning. As before shown, each tribe's name was written on its particular stone. In our first installment, we listed the stones as shown in Exodus 28: Sardis, topaz, carbuncle, emerald, sapphire, diamond, jacinth, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx and jasper. Now, pay close attention:
In Ezekiel 28:13 above, the list is as follows: Sardis, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, emerald, carbuncle and gold. Note that there are three stones missing from the list and gold is added (hum, gold? the world's economy?), plus the arrangement is changed. The stones were set in order according to their encampment in the wilderness. The three missing stones represent the tribes of Gad, Asher and Isaachar -- the entire third row is missing! Three in Biblical numerics is completeness -- so w e see that satan's breastplate is not complete. Nine stones are left; and nine in Biblical numerics is judgment. Do you not now see the value in deeper study? If you will check the tribal listing in Rev. 7, you will see that these three tribes are listed there. You will also note that Dan and Ephraim are missing with Joseph and Levi taking their places. This in and of itself, is a separate discussion, so I'll leave it for later. I just wanted to bring to your attention the complexity of in-depth study that's necessary, which few Bible students do (too much work, I guess), in order to get at the heart of God's Word and rightly divide it; meaning to put it in its proper order or sequence. This is a subject that would be good for our group to take on as a personal assignment in an open discussion on our network.
Let us continue. Just what do the missing stones mean to us? Gad, missing in Ezekiel 28:13, means "fortune or troop" (Strong's No.1410). Its root meaning is to crowd upon or attack or No. 1413 which means to "gash" or as pressing into something. Is not satan the oppressor? It means that to offer our Father true worship, we must do it in the face of much oppression. Satan even took a swipe at the Almighty (his creator) when he had Yahshua murdered (a gash)! In other words, satan is what the Bible defines him to be -- the Adversary! So, this stone had to be omitted.
Next, the tribe of Isaachar is missing in satan's breastplate. From Strong's No.'s 3485 and 5375 we find this name to represent "bringing a reward". Another Strong's No. that figures in this equation is 7939; meaning "payment of contract, salary, fare, maintenance or compensation of benefit".
Under the Breastplate of Messiah, Yahshua, Jesus Christ, we are compensated with eternal life for our allegiance to Him; however, under satan's breastplate, we are compensated with eternal death = the wages (payday) of sin is death. Note carefully what this wicked priest offered Eve: "You shall not surely die..." In this one phrase, satan blatantly calls our Father a liar; and takes it upon himself to "reward" her obedience to him with eternal life! Blasphemy, personified! Can you imagine such gall? What happened to Adam and Eve after this affair? Did they repent? The Scriptures do not say. Also, Adam, at least, was yet alive when God spoke to Noah about the flood, but he is not mentioned.
Third, the tribe of Asher is missing in satan's breastplate. Strange as it seems, Asher means happy (Strong's No. 833, 836) -- which in the deeper sense, means to be straight. However, satan is not straight; in fact, his nature is described as a serpent or serpentine. In its simplest meaning, it means to leave a crooked trail -- one of confusion! Do you know a politician or religious leader that fits this description? The main reason this stone must be deleted from his breastplate is that in reality, its meaning "straight" condemns him!
Satan is not straight (or truthful), he is not right (a divine nature), he is not level (fair and just), he does not give happiness (but pain and death instead). Satan leads souls astray, away from God through contamination of God's Word -- not towards God. He even quotes Scriptures falsely, even to Jesus Himself, (Luke 4). Therefore, this stone had to be omitted.
Now, in closing this installment, remember that satan had access to ALL the precious stones. However, in addition to three being omitted, and by the meanings of these tribes we found out why. Also, the remaining nine stones were rearranged. The rearrangement is also interesting because it shows satan's nature in rearranging God's Word via would be teachers. Oh yes! Satan does wear a breastplate, all right, and he is a priest, but not of the Most High God -- as was and is Melchizedek (which his breastplate proves beyond doubt); and those who cannot recognize the disarray in satan's "priestly attire" now, will surely be "vertigo'd" by him when he gets here. As revealed in these Scriptures, he will pass himself off as the true Christ (Israel's Messiah, who attempts to confirm Father's covenant of peace, so the unlearned will follow him to the abyss where he is destined to go, (Rev. chapters 9, 11, 17, 20). Talk about a great "sucking sound"! My, my. We sure had better learn the priestly dress codes laid out in our Father's Word. Those who are simply Christ's witnesses, also offer salvation through Christ to whom so ever will. Even Aaron had to have attendant priests that helped him carry out his duties, did he not? So, polish up your breastplate and wear it proudly, that it may reflect our Father's Son, our High Priest. Ephesians 6 calls it "...the breastplate of righteousness." That's the same significance Aaron's Breastplate had. In our next installment, we'll delve a little further into the tribes and other things.
I trust our group enjoys the type studies presented here. It would be good to hear from you. You'll not find this particular type of in-depth study anywhere else on the Internet that I'm aware of. Let me make perfectly clear, however, that I do not claim to know everything. I am not perfect. Nor do I claim to have a monopoly on understanding all of God's Word. God forbid! However, I do see things from our Father that others pass up which I am compelled to make known. The thirst for discovering these deeper truths is the driving force that keeps me in the Word. Simply put, I'm addicted, folks!
And as has been already manifested, I do make mistakes. Many are typographical because of my arthritic hands, but that's no biggie. I think most replace the errors with correct words. My mail system has no spell checker -- and I do not take the time to scrutinize my spelling; so, what you see is what you get. :-)
Thought this little ending "clip" to this installment might settle some minds about how I view myself. :-)
Study Pt. 3
In the last installment we took a very close look at the Priest's Breastplate and the near duplication satan uses to deceive mankind today. One would not see the difference if the original breastplate is not studied, just like one cannot discern between truth and falsehoods if God's Word is not studied. It's that simple. Now, let's get into today's study.
We're going to make a little trip back to the Garden episode between satan (the serpent) and Eve to show how he uses cunning words to work his will in humanity. Can we really imagine that our Father would have taught Eve what evil was? Surely not; therefore, we have to conclude that she knew only good. Additionally, can we imagine our Father taught satan (once a high priest of God) evil? Surely not; therefore, we must conclude that satan himself devised evil. Think for a moment; if an individual breaks the first Commandment, that act exposes the individual to a plethora of evil simply because they have opted to worship another god -- which could even be them selves. In the case of satan, he did worship himself, and his sin was in fact exactly as we've just described. No matter how high a priest (preacher, teacher) is elevated -- even by our Father -- he yet must be submissive to God's Word. Once that priest (preacher, teacher) takes it upon himself to deviate from God's Word, then that individual has placed himself in God's position. That's why satan has committed the unpardonable sin -- making himself as God -- which he will parade for the entire world to see in the near future. Our study will take a little turn today, but I feel compelled to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Someone just may be waiting on this very study.
We must review in detail, a very important Scripture from our last installment which speaks to the foregoing condition: Isa. 14:12-14:
Isa. 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"
This is in question form; but not really a question except to the human mind; therefore, He is bringing forth a condition by posing a question: "Just how did satan fall?" The phrase "...cut down to the ground..." documents that satan was once honored with having a very highly elevated position -- which obviously, was given to him by our Father. This Scripture shows that satan's exalted position on high had come to an end and he was therefore relegated to having power over only the earth -- implying that he had somewhat power in the heavenly realm previous to this falling. He yet is our accuser, (Rev. 12). This seems to be confirmed by the next phrase; "...which didst weaken the nations." Weaken the nations? This weakening implies that satan's control in the earthly realm also brought the "nations" (all races of people and their respective kingdoms) down from a higher level, or from one authority to another -- in this case, from God's ruler ship to satan's ruler ship. Therefore, satan's sin was passed to the earthly realm making it as him self -- in a fallen state. This fallen state references the rebellion, the overthrow, where the earth became void (empty), without form (no created beauty as it was originally), and total darkness. This is made no clearer than in Genesis 1 where God said "let there be light" -- not meaning the sun or moon, but His light instead. ((Shekinah Glory of God)) The sun and moon did not show up until the fourth day. Just threw this in to give a small view of why our Father said (replenish --repopulate-- the earth). Satan's control of the earthly realm is also confirmed by a statement he made in Luke 4:5-7:
Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him (Jesus), All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
How could satan possible give this power if he did not have it? In fact, he stated that this power (over this world) had been delivered to him! Note that Jesus did not refute this claim.
Another witness to the fact that our Father is not the ruler of the kingdoms of this world today (meaning satan must be) is found in Rev.:
Rev. 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
It is at this trump, the last trump (1 Cor. 15 & 1 Thess. 4) that our Saviour returns; Armageddon takes place and satan is bound for 1000 years, (Rev. 20). It is obvious that unless satan is bound -- rendered powerless -- he will yet have power to resist God. Jesus taught this lesson in Matt. 12:29:
Matt. 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house."
Therefore, satan's authority as the high priest of this world, which he has turned into becoming its god, must be removed.
Let's continue with a closer look at satan's fall.
Isaiah 14:13 For **thou hast said** in thine heart, **I will** (not Father's will) ascend into heaven, **I will** exalt my throne above the stars of God: **I will** sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:"
Here we see that satan had access to both the earthly and heavenly realms. Apparently, while on earth during one of his trips (Job chapter 1 fully explains his ability), satan devised the plans that this verse reveals. It was at this moment, when it would seem to have said to him self -- as do generals and under leaders of the rulers of nations do today: "...I will..." that his first sin occurred. It would seem that he viewed the entire domain over which he had been placed and said to himself; "What do I need with God? I'm a god myself?" This kind of political act today is called a coup, or an insurrection or revolt -- like we've seen in recent years in the former Soviet Union, East Germany, etc. So, anytime we refuse to obey Godís will, we therefore, place ourselves in God's position -- blasphemy! This sin cannot be forgiven (except where innocently done or from coercion unknowingly), and I'm sure satan was advised just as Eve was advised; therefore, satan's fate is sealed. Look how satan further compounds his first sin.
Eze. 28:14 **I will** ascend above the heights of the clouds; **I will** be like the most High (take over His office).
We see "I will" five times, meaning grace, which satan has also contaminated with falsehoods -- he is no longer perfect as he was created. So, we now see satan's goal -- to take charge over all the Priesthood of this world -- even God's elect if it were possible, becoming the world's only high priest, replacing our Father's priesthood wherever he can get away with it. He will even fake Christ's Priesthood when he sits in Jerusalem pretending to fulfill the covenant of peace -- reserved for only the Prince of Peace. Let us again document that satan was created perfect, verse 15:
Eze. 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Yes, satan was once perfect; he was once a shining reflection of all God's wisdom, knowledge and beauty. Now, note carefully: "...iniquity was found in thee." Iniquity means lawlessness, wickedness, rebellion --both morally and spiritually-- or simply put disobedience and defiance of God's authority.
Here the origin of sin is plainly and openly documented for all to see -- it came from within satan. Therefore, God did not invent evil, He did not teach Eve evil, nor does God teach or coerce anyone to be or practice evil. It's all laid at satan's doorstep. My point in all this is to prove the far reaching consequences of one single sin --satan making himself like God. It could be compared to the tentacles of an octopus, reaching in many different directions. This one sin has caused all the fighting, wars, strife, envying, thefts, lies, sickness, pain, spiritual suffering, heartaches, violence, wickedness, spiritual wickedness in high places of authority -- from religion to politics -- and finally, all ending in death -- both body and soul for multiplied millions of God's children. Therefore, to rid the world of wickedness and to free God's obedient children from satan's death grip, our Father will be forced to kill his own son (satan) and millions of His other children as well. What a trip for our Father! That's what the preaching of this wicked high priest of this world is bringing on humanity -- yet millions, as did Eve, are listening to his message. It astonishes me to see the leaders of this country discount and even snuff out God's influence and teachings -- replacing them with their own solutions. This is blasphemous; and is brought on by their listening to this world's high priest.
Eze. 28:16: "By the **multitude of thy merchandise** (trading in his cunning ways) they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire."
The stones of fire? Ah, hah! (The perfect ness of God's Presence) Satan's judgment, announced in these verses, will not be consummated until he is cast forever into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:10). Here satan's position in God's government is terminated (the stones of fire denotes his former Godly priesthood authority), though he still has access to heaven (Job 1:6). This is why God's true dress code of His priesthood should be of concern to Christians today. At the beginning of the Millennium he will be cast into the shaft of the abyss (Rev. 20:1-3) to be loosed for a short time at the end of the Millennium (Rev. 20:7-9), and then cast into the lake of fire forever.
Eze.28:17: "Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."
Satan is cast out of the heavenly realm to have access there no more in Rev. 12 -- at the beginning of the tribulation. In the end, he will be revealed to the world, even the kings of this world, as a fallen nobody -- a turncoat on his Creator. However, since satan's priesthood here on earth has most people believing that he is red, has a pitchfork, has pointed ears and a barbed tail, and will be totally evil, they will be his "patsies" because his true dress code has been not been learned.
This methodology is no more clearly demonstrated than in the Halloween (hallowed -- reverenced -- eve). The ghosts and goblins, the witches and cobwebs, the treats or tricks (good or evil) are clearly inventions of satan -- not our Father. People seem to forget that satan knows "good" also; but most importantly, makes evil look good and innocent.
He will even be allowed to perform miracles; and because so many people mistake "good" for religion or conversion to some religion, they will be sucked into serving him by his vacuum of "good". He will even be using "...lying signs and wonders..." On the other hand, Satan's earthly priesthood has caused most people to "buy-in" on the rapture doctrine invented in the year 1830 by a mentally sick woman. It is now so entrenched that it will remain a permanent "dress code" of most of Christianity. This doctrine was subsequently brought to America (Los Angeles, the city of angels) around 1900, and from that "revival", it has spread to most all Christian denominations. They simply do not study God's Word -- but listen to happy "reverends".
Eze. 28:18, 19: "18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."
Here we are again reminded what led to his downfall; then, we are shown his eternal destruction. A fire comes from within him; and in the sight of humanity, he is reduced to ashes right here on earth. This is a consuming fire, as it was a lake, (Deut. 4:24, Heb. 12:29). And, note carefully, "...and never shalt thou be any more." Never be any more? We have been taught from childhood that the unsaved, along with satan, will spend eternity writhing and wriggling like bacon in an eternal burning hell. To "...never be any more", is like burning a chunk of wood into ashes -- the wood is no more and the ashes disintegrate into dust. However, the smoke of that burning ascends up and never returns; therefore, from this obvious explanation, we can now properly understand Rev. 14:11:
Rev. 14:11 And the smoke of their torment (those who are lost, accept the mark, and worship the beast and his system, vs.10) ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
This verse has two applications: (1) documenting the fate of the lost; and (2) documenting a warning that even though those who do decide to accept the mark and worship the beast (satan) and his system to avoid the beast's wrath, will have no rest day nor night if they do because they become slaves to the system and satan. The last of this verse does not mean these lost souls have no rest because of being in a red hot hell. In fact, in the new world age, there is neither day nor night -- so how can days and nights apply to these lost souls?
Rev. 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be **no night there**.
And finally, the only sorrow we shall ever have over lost loved ones is while we are yet here in the flesh. Once this earth age is over, there will be no sorrow, no pain, no more death, (Rev. 21:4). Those who do not make it will be as if they never were. Our study migrated into several directions because the subject matter in the Bible is so intertwined that it is hard to not cover at least some important "side roads". This is quite obvious from the content of the verses which describe satan's fall. My main objective was to show; (1) what the false high priest of this world, along with his human priesthood, has perpetrated on the people of this world; (2) how the world has reacted to his religion; and (3) the consequences of listening to that false priest hood and their messages -- that appear, on the surface, to be good and godly -- just as they did to Eve. We are born into this world with no evil in our hearts; but along the road of life (at a very early age), we somehow begin listening to a priesthood that, as is now obvious, not from God -- but many times seems like it. It is because of this urging from satan, that we, of our own free will and choice, as did Eve, begin to be disobedient to God's ways. From this point forward, unless there is an intervention of some kind from our Father, we will continue to listen the priesthood whose goal is to bring our souls into the same lifestyle and nature as satan -- listening to someone other that God and His Word. In fact, there is no other inspired word from God.
It is obvious that another installment is necessary to finish our look at the significance in the Priest's Breastplate. This will be our final installment on this subject. We've seen how satan, through his influence on a priesthood that works for him, knowingly or unknowingly, slithers his way into the lives of humanity. Were it not for a chosen priesthood that our Father has set aside for the purpose of being a witness against falsehoods, the religions of the world would have no resistance from God. We who are His witnesses are an election, chosen for the specific purpose of providing a reflection of God's Word (His Light) to a world that has become darkened by satan and his priesthood. We also stand on the firm foundation of His Word that whatsoever is not of God is of satan or man. These are the foundations we saw in the walls and the wall's construction. This wall is to protect that which is within; the undefiled truth coming from our Father -- that those outside the walls -- must take heed in how they are allowed to enter Father's Domain. Rev. 21:27 speaks to this subject: Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time." -- Which were satan's kingdoms. Rev. 22:15 also speaks to the purpose of the wall:
Rev. 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
And finally, Jesus Himself, has somewhat to say regarding this message in verse 16:
Rev. 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in **the churches**. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Remember that satan is the false star, (Rev. 8 & 9).
From these Scriptures, it would seem clear that Christ's Priesthood, the true Bright and Morning Star, is where Satan obtained his name -- Lucifer, light bearer -- and also copied the identifier "...son of the morning" from Isa. 14:12. Christ is described as our "day star" in 2 Peter 1:19. It should now be absolutely clear that there is a True Light and a false light; and without proper knowledge, the false light can be easily mistaken for the True Light; and my duty is to show the difference... Another point to remember is that all prophecy regarding satan is given in months or moons; therefore, showing that he is not that light, but a contaminated reflection of the True Light. Satan's fall prevents his nature from duplicating the True Light because he now wishes to transmit his own light, that is, his version of good and evil -- he has become his own god.
This is how Jesus describes this comparison in John 3:19-21:
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
God's True Light (His undefiled Word) shows up all that is not emanating from Him when His messengers proclaim it.
Trouble is there are not many devout messengers anymore; therefore, the evil doers are getting braver by the week. Those who love our Father and His Word, willingly and obediently -- of their own free will -- make their way to the True Light that they may have the sight to see themselves and their lives that they may be sure they are measuring up to God's will and His standards. The calling of God's true Priesthood is as follows:
2Cor 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Note: The breastplate was designed to "...give the light of knowledge of the glory of God." That's the purpose of the twelve stones in the breastplate; a token to the Israelites that the man who wore this breastplate was a direct and anointed representative of God's light of knowledge and the glory of God. It was to be respected with all reverence.
The "pectoral", or the garment which held the stones, making up the complete breastplate, was the crowning glory of the High Priest's regalia; and the most sacred talisman of his office. It was styled as a "spangle", from its sparkling gold and flashing gem stones. Of particular interest is the words "Urim and Thummim". These words express the proper order and positioning of the precious stones in the breast place, plus two hidden stones next to the priest's heart.
Exo 28:30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.
This symbolized judgment from the heart not by man. Only when they were in proper order and all twelve displayed, could "Urim and Thummim" be exclaimed to exist. What do Urim and Thummim mean? Light and Perfection -- representative of God's Light and His perfection of which the stones reminded all Israel when the priest was speaking for God.
Therefore, when we see the disorder in the stones in satan's breastplate, as well as the three missing stones (-- one complete row, the third row (2 x 3 = 6) -- shows us that "Urim and Thummim" was and is not present; and that he, therefore, certainly could not represent God's Perfect Light! This great truth is the highlight of this entire study; because unless "Urim and Thummim" was present, God was not present. All Israel's leaders were supposed to know what "Urim and Thummim" meant, and what constituted it; or a fake priest could conceivably deceive the people.
In closing, there is one stone mentioned in the breastplate which must be examined more closely; and that stone is the diamond. This is a mistranslation, or wrong use of a word. There are two obvious reasons why the diamond was not a correct translation: (1) the size would make this stone too expensive. (2) In those days engraving a diamond would have been impossible. In fact, the diamond was so hard that it was used to engrave other stones. The proper name for the diamond is sardonyx or chalcedony, properly translated in Rev. 21.
Jer 17:1 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;
From Jer 17:1 H8068 shâmîyr shaw-meer' From H8104 in the original sense of pricking; a thorn; also (from its keenness for scratching) a gem, probably the diamond: - adamant (stone), brier, diamond.
From the other 3 verses H3095 yahălôm yah-hal-ome' From H1986 (in the sense of hardness); a precious stone, probably onyx: - diamond.
Rev 21:19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
Rev 21:20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
It is hoped that this series of studies on the Priest's Breastplate was informative, challenging and enlightening.
